Carol Concert at the Polish-Slavic Center
On Sunday, January 14, at the Polish-Slavic Center at 177 Kent Street in Brooklyn, a “Carol Concert” took place in a beautiful Christmas setting, organized by Bożena Konkiel. There was a joyful, festive atmosphere in the packed hall. The guests of honor were Consul General of the Republic of Poland, Adrian Kubicki, and the legend of Polish song, Stan Borys.
The music of Christmas carols, both in Polish and English, introduced a festive mood. Consul Adrian Kubicki accompanied the Polish children and the soloist Małgorzata Staniszewska wonderfully and with great commitment. His presence and support for young talents certainly enriched the concert. The Consul General was awarded the Paderewski statuette by the PSC board of directors. The PSC directors thanked Consul Adrian Kubicki for supporting a number of initiatives undertaken by the organization and providing honorary patronage to most of the events organized in the largest Polish socio-cultural organization on the east coast.
The legendary Stan Borys took part in the concert for charity, presenting his beautiful, recently released pastorals from the album entitled “I wish you Merry Christmas”, “Praise the child” and “Heaven is caroling the earth”.
The youth who sang with Stan Borys were prepared by the famous jazz vocalist Małgorzata Staniszewska and Bożena Konkiel, who also run vocal and music workshops for children and teenagers on a daily basis.
Great artists performed on stage, children, teenagers, Polish choirs and talented soloists presented their talents. Their passion and commitment made the concert truly unique. The biggest applause at this concert went to 3 young sopranos: Patrycja Posłuszna, Juney Li, Yahji Daguia, who masterfully performed “O Holy Night” as an encore.
There were also special awards, the Ignacy Paderewski statuette was given to Consul General Adrian Kubicki, who accompanied the concert wonderfully, and Stan Borys received a diploma of recognition for his contribution to the artistic activities of the Polish community, and he sang his Pastorałki with the children for charity. Stan Borys was recently nominated for the Public Media Awards 2023 in the categories: “Image”, “Word”, “Music” and “Idea”.
This event was a great opportunity for everyone to integrate and enjoy the joy and emotion of listening to beautiful Christmas music.
