PSC Festival of Rock : Saturday, September 16th

The “PSC Rock Festival” will take place on Saturday, September 16 at 7pm, at the Greenpoint Polish & Slavic Center in a newly renovated former church building at 177 Kent Street. Admission to the event is free, but space may be limited.

The following bands will play during the festival: SOVA, Dzieci PRL-u and Time Machine. All these groups belong to the leading representatives of the Polish rock scene of the East Coast. During the nearly 3-hour event, the bands will present original compositions, as well as well-known rock covers. On site you will be able to taste the specialties of Polish cuisine and Polish beer.

“This is not the first rock festival organized by me in Greenpoint, but the first one that will take place in the hospitable walls of the Polish and Slavic Center,” said Marcin Żurawicz, the creator of the Festival and its co-organizer. The artists who will perform this evening are true rock stars and prominent in the Polish music scene. The standard and professionalism is therefore guaranteed and I hope that all festival guests will have a great time.

“Today already, I invite everyone to this different than before event at the Polish and Slavic Center. I am very happy that our organization is opening its doors to such diverse initiatives and this time rock music will be heard in the beautiful Hall! This festival is proof that the Center is undergoing a real metamorphosis. I hope that the audience will not let us down and that the Rock Festival will become a permanent fixture in the calendar of events for the Polish community in Greenpoint,” said Agnieszka Granatowska, Executive Director of the Polish and Slavic Center, who is a co-organizer of the event.

SOVA is a Philadelphia rock band formed in 2019. They are a team of characters, dynamic and with a “claw”. It plays both classic rock and indie, blues rock, funky rock and more. The band mainly performs Polish punk-rock-alternative hits and original songs.

Dzieci PRLu is a rock formation founded in 2010 in New York. According to the name, “Children of the People’s Republic of Poland”, the style of the band refers to the roots of contemporary Polish rock music, which was born in the times when Poland was behind the Iron Curtain.

Existing since 2003, Wehikuł Czasu is a band that exceptionally performs songs by legends of Polish rock-blues, i.e. the Dżem band.

The event is held under the honorary patronage of Bogdan Malinowski, this year’s Marshal of the Pulaski Parade in the Greenpoint district. The event will start at 7PM.
