CHRISTMAS FAIR at PSC in GREENPOINT
Traditions and holiday customs are part of our national culture.
On Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the Gallery of Polish and Slavic Center, at 176 Kent Street, the Christmas Fair 2024 took place. Such a pre-holiday event is a great opportunity to buy unique gifts at a very affordable price. Polish businessmen and exceptional creators-craftsmen presented interesting products, it was colorful and joyful. PSC employees prepared warm red borscht with croquettes for visitors, and you could feel the breath of Christmas joy all around. The meeting was attended by Agnieszka Granatowska – executive director of PSC with administrative assistant, Claudia Nytko, welcoming exhibitors and buyers, thanking everyone for supporting Polish activities and cooperation with PSC. The stands were presented by: Agnieszka Socha, Girl Scouts Team: Górski Las with team leader Małgosia Olszewska-Fernezy, Wojtek Orent, Monika Matuszek, Ewa Jaczyński, Elżbieta Milko, Ewa Śledziewska “Polish Connection”, Lucy Okrutniak – Mary Kay Cosmetics, Krakus Senior Center, Uta Szczerba, Marta Bizio-Bialek.
Each stand stood out for its uniqueness. Perhaps the most festive was the stand with gingerbread and holiday baked goods by Ewa and Ireneusz Jaczyński entitled “Love, Happiness and Cookies” – We have been making artistic gingerbread for several years. It is our passion. We bake them according to an old Polish recipe. In our work, we use various decoration techniques, from traditional icing, decorating with sugar paste, through printing on edible paper, or laser decoration. We create them according to our own designs. We make every effort to ensure that our products please both the eyes and the palates of our Customers. We create gingerbread for various occasions for both individual customers and companies. Our cookies were served during the 50th Anniversary Department of Textile Conservation Metropolitan Museum, as well as the largest Polish organizations, including the Marshal’s Ball of the Pulaski Parade.”
However, the most cheerful was the stand prepared by the Girl Scout Troop: Górski Las with the troop leader Małgosia Olszewska-Fernezy Girl Scouts collect funds for joint trips and meetings. On this day, they not only tried to sell their products, but also put on a small concert of scout hits for the gathered people, it was atmospheric and festive. Many local residents came, occasionally Consul Krzysztof Płaski from Manhattan came with his family to buy Christmas decorations and sweets. Merry Christmas! See you next year!
