On Thursday, August 1, 2024, we commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising at the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union in Greenpoint. Seniors from the Krakus Senior Center PSC, part of the The Polish & Slavic Center (PSC), had the honor of participating in these ceremonies along with President of The Polish & Slavic Center (PSC), Paul Pachacz and Executive Director Agnieszka Granatowska.
An important part of the program was the unveiling of the restored mural on the wall of the Polish National Home WARSAW on Driggs Avenue in Greenpoint, painted in tribute to the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising. Following this, we watched the performance “The War of Adults – Through the Eyes of Children,” based on Joanna Papuzińska’s book “Asiunia,” directed by Dominika Grzyb. The performance featured Patryk Szwichtenberg and the Children’s Choir Polonia. It was an extraordinary and deeply moving event that united the Polish community and touched the hearts of all attendees.
It is also worth mentioning that the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising was commemorated in Times Square in New York City.
