On March 20, at Krakus Senior Center, operating under the Polish and Slavic Center, we had the honor of hosting the Poligrodzianie Folk Dance Ensemble from Poznań! The artists delivered a spectacular and dynamic performance, transporting us into the world of Polish folklore. Beautiful costumes, energetic dances, and vibrant music captivated our audience, who rewarded the performers with thunderous applause.
Poligrodzianie is the oldest academic folk dance ensemble in Poznań and one of the best in Poland. They have been active since 1973, bringing together children, youth, and adults. The group has its own band and performs dances from its native ethnographic region, as well as other Polish and international folk traditions. They also engage in cultural education and participate in prestigious folk festivals worldwide.
Their artistic achievements are truly impressive – they have performed in 70 countries, given four concerts for UNESCO, and twice had the honor of performing for Pope John Paul II. They have been invited to perform by the Mayor of New York City, the King of Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, the Presidents of Malta and Nepal, as well as Ministers of Culture and Tourism from Ireland, South Korea, China, Mexico, Venezuela, Turkey, Israel, and many other countries. The group has won numerous awards both in Poland and internationally.
Their performance at Krakus Senior Center was a true feast for folklore enthusiasts and a testament to how beautifully Polish cultural heritage can be promoted!
A heartfelt thank you to Poligrodzianie for this unforgettable concert and for the passion with which they preserve Polish traditions!
This event was held as part of Krakus Senior Center’s activities under the patronage of the Polish & Slavic Center.
