Carnival ball for children

Fairytale-like and colorful during the carnival ball for children at the Polish-Slavic Center in Greenpoint.

Dozens of happy children and equally happy parents, colorful costumes
and excellent fun for several hours to the rhythm of music served by a DJ.
This is a brief description of the carnival ball for children, which took place on Sunday, January 26, in the hospitable premises of the Polish-Slavic Center in
Greenpoint.

The traditional carnival party for the youngest has been an important point in the calendar of events organized by the Polish-Slavic Center for many years.
As in previous years, the event gathered a full room of children, who dressed up in the most elaborate costumes based on characters from their favorite fairy tales and cartoons. At the beginning of the party, the gathered participants were welcomed by the organizers, namely
the authorities of the Polish-Slavic Center headed by Agnieszka Granatowska,
the executive director of this institution, who together with her assistant
Claudia Nytko, led the entire event. The guests were also welcomed by the vice-president
of the CPS Directors, Zbigniew Solarz, and Danuta Bronchard, the director
of the Maria Konopnickie Polish Supplementary School in Greenpoint, who
supported the organization of the entire event. The Polish authorities were represented by Consul Krzysztof
Płaski, from the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York, who appeared
on site with his wife and son. During the over three-hour carnival event, many games and attractions were planned for the
youngest, as well as sweets; hot chocolate with whipped cream and jelly, cookies and homemade lemonade. The electrifying and surprising performance of the magician brought bursts of laughter from the children. A long queue of children lined up for inflatable balloon toys, and the face painting station was also very popular. The excellent musical setting for the event was provided, as in previous years, by DJ Daniel and Kids Fun House. The DJ – volunteers employed by CPS – helped as the host. The appearance of the mascot Blue in the hall also aroused great enthusiasm among the little ones. It is worth mentioning that delicious Polish cuisine specialties prepared by cooks from the Krakus senior club were served on site. Other CPS employees, also as volunteers, supported the event from the logistical and organizational side. We are glad that once again we were able to host children and their parents at the Polish-Slavic Center – said Agnieszka Granatowska, executive director of CPS, who herself donned an impressive Snow White costume for the party. At the Centre, we organise events for every age group, and we take special care of children. I am very happy that once again the turnout was good. I would also like to thank all the employees of the Centre who came to work today as volunteers. I would also like to thank them for letting themselves be persuaded to wear beautiful costumes, thanks to which today will remain in the memory of the youngest participants of this wonderful carnival ball for a long time – added the director.
The party traditionally ended with a raffle led by Beata Pesantez, during which one could win extremely attractive prizes;
among others, sets of Lego blocks or electric scooters. Sponsors of the children’s awards were the following companies and organizations: Polish-Slavic
Federal Credit Union, Polish-Slavic Center, Kid’s Fun House, The
Pulaski Association of Business & Professional Men, Sanocki Newman & Turret,
LLP, Virginia & Ambinder, LLP, DF Studio, Inc., Jepol Construction, Broadway
Stages, The Platta Law Firm, Gregory Spektor & Associates P.C., Bozena
Lesiczka – Family Dental Care, Arthur Dybanowski and Arthur’s Funeral Chapels
and Syrena Bakery.

The Polish-Slavic Center, established in Greenpoint for over 50 years, has promoted Polish culture in New
York since its inception and has provided legal and social services to the Polish
American community and local communities. Despite demographic changes, CPS has approximately 30,000 members
and is currently the largest Polish socio-cultural organization on the East Coast.
