During this year’s Easter Fair organized by the Polish and Slavic Center in Greenpoint, there was no shortage of art, color, and emotion. A special place at the event was held by the talented seniors from the Krakus Senior Center art class, led by the remarkable artist Agnieszka Nowińska.
Participants of the Art Class presented an exceptional project – a collection of beautifully decorated spring hats, created in collaboration with the prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) as part of the MET Art Box initiative. Each hat was a small masterpiece, full of color, detail, and personal expression.
The artists who took part in the fair included: Maria Barbara Conrad, Grażyna Miezgiel, Władysław Miezgiel, Zdzisława Kuszewski, and Jan Gluszek. Their creativity, passion, and joy of creating were noticed and appreciated – not only by visitors to the fair but also by a very special guest – Grace Rago, Senior Project Manager in the Education Department of the MET Museum, who visited the event in person and was truly impressed by the work of our seniors.
A highlight of the event was the hat showcase – full of style, elegance, and smiles. Seniors proudly presented their creations, receiving warm applause from the audience. The show was hosted by Kasia Drucker from the Theatre and Opera Society.
The Easter Fair also attracted the youngest participants – children joyfully painted Easter eggs, bunnies, and chicks on rainbow-colored paper, immersing themselves in creative holiday activities. The little ones had a wonderful time with the seniors, sharing the joy of art and spending meaningful moments together.
At Krakus Senior Center, we believe that art knows no age, and every day is an opportunity for joy and growth. Our motto “We Are Young and Beautiful” was clearly reflected in this heartwarming event, which brought generations together and showed how much our seniors contribute – not only to our community but also to the world of art.
Krakus Senior Center, operating under the Polish and Slavic Center, is a wonderful place where every senior feels special. It’s a space filled with warmth, support, and inspiration – a place where seniors can explore their passions, make new friends, and create unforgettable memories. The atmosphere is full of joy and mutual respect, making each day here rich in positive energy.
We are incredibly proud of our senior artists. Their creativity and imagination never cease to amaze us. With passion and originality, they continue to prove that age is no barrier when it comes to self-expression. Every project is a testament to the talent and dedication of our seniors, who joyfully share their art with others.
