The event called 2 Metal Festival will take place on Saturday, May 10, at the Polish-Slavic Center in Greenpoint, in the building of a former church at 177 Kent Street. This is the second edition of the event inaugurated a year ago.
This year’s 2 Metal Festival will feature the following bands: Minimal Absolution, One Of Seven and Metalika by Metalfier. The aforementioned bands are among the leading representatives of the Polish heavy metal scene on the East Coast and each of them was founded by Poles. During the nearly 3-hour event, the bands Minimal Absolution and One Of Seven will primarily present their own compositions. In turn, Metalika by Metalfier will perform songs by heavy metal legends, Metallica.
2 Metal Festival is another edition of a musical initiative that was born a year ago at the Polish-Slavic Center. Its goal is to present Polish bands and various musical styles during music festivals. Last year, the first editions of the metal and jazz festivals took place, as well as the second edition of the rock festival. The 2nd Metal Festival inaugurates this concert series this year. In turn, the 2nd Jazz Festival will take place on Saturday, June 21, and the 3rd Blues – Rock Festival on Saturday, September 20.
I am very happy that the second edition of the Polish-American metal festival will take place at the Polish-Slavic Center in Greenpoint – said Agnieszka Granatowska, executive director of the Polish-Slavic Center, which is the organizer of the event. As part of fruitful cooperation, with musicians from different states, we have created a festival during which we will present the work of talented artists of the Polish and American metal scene. I am very pleased that the CPS has become a place where artists like to perform, and the audience comes to us to have a great time to the sounds of different music. I do not hide the fact that our goal is to organize musical events of the highest quality. The bands we have invited present different varieties of heavy music, but they are united by a high artistic level. I am glad that the festival will feature songs by the famous band Metallica, because we listen to this band as a family and have been to many concerts of this legendary group, including the unfortunately historic “Orion” festival. The idea of the festivals is that every year different bands with Poles in the line-up will perform at the Center, and so far this condition has been met – said Marcin Żurawicz, co-organizer of the festival. However, the artists who appear on the festival stage regardless of the genre of music performed have something else in common. It is a huge passion for music and the perseverance to constantly develop it, which is not so easy and obvious in today’s busy world. I invite all music enthusiasts to the hospitable thresholds of the Center for another moving musical celebration. Let’s be together on this day.
The band Minimal Absolution was formed in 2017. A young, 5-person band, they perform metal-rock music with elements of punk. The band focuses on strong, but at the same time aggressive playing. The band’s frontman, Piotr Golda, announces another lively performance of his band, during which the musicians will present songs that will soon be included on their debut album called Metamorphosis. Minimal Absolution will perform in the following line-up: Piotr Golda (vocals), Ruben Jessurum (guitar) and Robert Lewis (guitar), Paweł Golda (drums), Shahob Newman (bass guitar).
The band One Of Seven was formed in 2011 by vocalist Darek Brynczka, guitarist Konrad Ceremuga, bassist Michał Paci and drummer Jakub Doktor, and their only album so far entitled The First War saw the light of day in 2021. The band combines elements of metal, hardcore and rap in their work. It is the only festival band to feature only Poles, mostly experienced musical veterans. Konrad Ceremuga, who plays guitar in the band, is also a member of Prime Prophecy and Atura, and previously played in the bands Kran, Power Blues, 15po). On the second guitar, you will be able to admire the legend of the Polish music scene Andrzej Maziarz (currently Prime Prophecy, and previously also Raggedy, Wehikuł Czasu, 15po, Prowincja). In turn, the drummer of the group Rafał Pisarczyk is well-known in Polonia as a painter, including the creator of many murals. The vocalist of the band Darek Brynczka, famous for his lively stage expression, promises hard playing and great fun during the festival. The band will appear on stage in the following line-up: Darek Brynczka (vocals), Konrad Ceremuga (guitar), Andrzej Maziarz (guitar), Michał Pacia (bass guitar), Rafał Pisarczyk (drums).
Metalika by Metalfier is a band that plays songs by the legendary Metallica. It is formed by members who normally play in the already highly renowned band Metalfier. Metalika was founded on the initiative of the charismatic founder and leader of Metalfier Andrew Janda and is a tribute to the legendary American heavy metal band. As the leader of the band assures, Metallica fans can expect a real musical feast and a metal ride without holds. Interestingly, for many years Andrew Janda has also had the opportunity to perform Melallica songs on stage with the band Warrior Soul, which accompanied Metallica during concerts in the 90s.
